DEEP SILLAGE / YOUR DATA

Privacy notice

Updated 3 October 2026

Who is responsible

Kernel Co. GmbH, Kollwitzstr. 22, 10405 Berlin, Germany is responsible for Deep Sillage. For privacy requests, contact info@kernel-co.com. See our legal notice for further company details.

Using the website and your account

Our hosting provider, ALL-INKL.COM (Neue Medien Münnich), processes connection information needed to deliver and protect this service. Customer access-log generation and visitor statistics are currently disabled in our hosting account. This does not mean that the hosting provider processes no operational or security data.

Invited accounts store your name, email address and a password hash. Your private archive stores saved passages, source details, timestamps, notes and playback information. We use these records to provide your requested listening and archive features (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Security, session handling and abuse prevention serve our legitimate interest in protecting the service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Browser storage

Signing in uses an essential session cookie. Sessions expire after one hour of inactivity or twelve hours at most. The browser also stores drafts, preferences and pending changes so work can survive interrupted connections. Some local data can remain after signing out; clear this site’s browser data on a shared device after syncing your work. The installed web app caches a basic offline page and icons; an internet connection is needed to open your archive.

When you dismiss the cookie information, we store the acknowledgement time locally in this browser. The acknowledgement is valid for 180 days and is cleared on the next visit after it expires. It is used only to avoid repeating the notice. You can reopen the explanation using “Cookie information” at the bottom of the page, or clear site data to remove this acknowledgement.

The public website does not use advertising or third-party analytics scripts. Fonts and presentation images are served from our own site.

Podcast sources and external services

Podcast discovery sends your search terms through our server to Apple’s podcast catalogue. Playing external audio or loading external artwork connects your browser to the source provider, which receives connection information such as your IP address. Visiting an external source opens that provider’s website and its privacy practices apply. You can use the original sample without searching external catalogues. Your notes are not sent to an AI transcription or answer-generation service in this version.

Storage and deletion

Account and archive records currently have no automatic expiry. They remain available until you remove archive items or request account deletion. You can export your archive and remove saved Traces in the app. Contact us to request account deletion or exercise your privacy rights; removing Traces does not itself delete your account.

Deleted data may remain temporarily in backup copies until those copies rotate out. ALL-INKL publishes typical webspace backup ages of up to two and four weeks, and database backup ages of the previous day, five to eight days, and nine to twelve days. These are provider-described backup intervals, not a guarantee of an individual deletion deadline. See the provider’s backup information. Separate operational security records may be retained where needed to investigate an incident or meet a legal obligation.

Security and access

Connections use HTTPS and archives are restricted to the signed-in account. Storage is not end-to-end encrypted. The operator and hosting provider may access stored data as necessary to operate and support the service. Access is currently invitation-only.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may complain to a supervisory authority, including the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Contact info@kernel-co.com for these requests. Account information is necessary to provide a private archive. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when the service or its data processing changes, including before introducing payment, analytics or AI processing features.
